Deyan Lazarov

Deyan Lazarov works with the Health & Wellbeing team at Edelman Global Advisory Brussels to support clients in the healthcare sector establish and reinforce their EU and global public affairs strategies. Prior to joining Edelman, Mr. Lazarov worked as a policy officer at the European Society for Paediatric Oncology (SIOP Europe)—a Brussels-based NGO representing all clinicians and researchers working in the field of pediatric cancers in Europe. His role included maintaining and growing relationships with policymakers as well as coordinating advocacy activities with national cancer policies and Europe’s Beating Cancer Plan, the Horizon Europe Mission on Cancer, the Pharmaceutical Strategy for Europe, among others. He also co-authored a Comment in The Lancet Oncology on the impact of the EU General Data Protection Regulation on health data sharing and its implications for childhood cancer research.

Before that, Mr. Lazarov gained valuable policy experience during his time at the European Parliament by working on legislative files in several of the institution’s committees. He started his career at the global consultancy Ernst & Young. Mr. Lazarov holds a master's degree in European studies and a bachelor’s in business administration and law from the European University Viadrina (Frankfurt an der Oder, Germany), also studying abroad in Belgium and the United States. In addition to his native Bulgarian, he is fluent in English, German, and French.
