Steffen Rhys Hansen is a senior analyst with Edelman Global Advisory. His fields of expertise include EU carbon pricing legislation (the EU ETS and CBAM), EU legislation on the promotion of renewable energy (the Renewable Energy Directive), EU sustainable transport policy, UNFCCC, and international climate finance more broadly.
Previously, Mr. Rhys Hansen’s worked at Landmark covering EU climate, energy, transport, and circular economy policy. He was Landmark’s main point of contact for the Commission’s Fit for 55 package of legislative proposals. He also interned at the Welsh Government’s Permanent Representation to the EU. Mr. Rhys Hansen holds a bachelor’s degree from Aberystwyth University in human geography and international politics, as well as a master’s degree in global development from the University of Copenhagen. A Danish and British national, he grew up in Brussels, and is fluent in English, Welsh, and French. He also has an intermediate command of Danish.
